Dr. Liu in the O. R.

Tonight the good doctor performed surgery on her first—and unsuspecting—patient: my old bass, nicknamed “Gus” since I was in the 3rd grade. Helen and I were in the process of removing Gus’s g string so that we could install a Realist pickup. But then the soundpost fell! Luckily I found my old soundpost repair kit, which I bought in 1998 while at Tanglewood.

As you can see from the pictures (and soon, video) posted below, Helen got to work pretty quickly. Bass luthiers, watchout!
