Wedding planning continues…

For those who are wondering, yes, we are still planning our wedding. The last few months flew by surprisingly fast, but we can feel curious minds starting to wonder. We will be printing our invitations by hand with the help of a friend in the next few days. Expect them in the mail in the next couple of weeks. As soon as we hear from people, we’ll start planning the ceremony and reception programs. Thanks to those who have offered to help. We’ll definitely keep you in mind. Time to get crackin’!

Wedding Planning Has Begun

For those of you who are wondering, and yes, I know many of you are … we have begun wedding planning. Actually, Helen and I started in late December when visiting my family in Hawai’i. Our goals then were to figure out a date and a place, and settle on a preliminary guest list. I’m proud to say that we did accomplish all of those things, with just over 12 months to go before the actual date. Nowadays, not a week (and usually not a day or two) goes by without us making little accomplishments towards the big goal. We’re taking things step-by-step, but I have no doubt that it will all add up to a big success. One thing about wedding planning is that it’s helping us to get to know each other even better, with every step of the process. I know it’s hard to imagine we already know each other so well but it’s true.

One thing that I have to get going on is the design of the invitation. I guess I’m one of those people that likes to wait until a moment of divine inspiration hits me, and then whiz off towards the stars. When we were in L.A., we did have a serendipitous moment: After weeks of searching (online and in Boston) for paper swatches and textures that we like, and visiting a few stores in Studio City that I checked out online, we waltzed into a paper supplier in Beverly Hills shortly before dinner time. It was just 10 minutes to closing, and by the looks of the place, I actually didn’t think there’d be anything there. But … there was! We found exactly what we were looking for and placed the order, right as the store was closing. Now it’s a waiting game. We didn’t bring any samples from the store home, so we’re anxiously awaiting the paper delivery. Theoretically it’d be best if we had the invitation design ready right when the paper comes, so that we could print and assemble ASAP… I guess that means, I better get crackin’!
